Tyler Rai

Artist / Creative (Individual)

My work as an artist is to incite communion through performance-based practices and dialogues. I explore the implications of geologic movement, urban infrastructure, and collaborative assembly through embodied practice. I emphasize process and principles of emergence by dwelling in the edge-spaces between improvised and composed material, and individual and ensemble motivations. The dances I make are site-responsive mediations that center embodied knowledge as the primary organizational tool. My inspiration is derived from interactions with the more-than-human world. I desire that my creative practice be one that is regenerative to its environment and is an invocation to other’s creativity. The work is about creating invitations.
