Michelle Maher has always been creative. Growing up in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, Michelle started drawing and painting at a young age and was always encouraged by her parents to pursue her dreams in art. She won several awards in high school and college for her creativity.
Maher studied Printmaking and Graphic Design at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she matriculated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking.
Her art career led to retail visual merchandising, graphic design and newspaper composition before she transitioned to copy editing for high-tech publications. Meanwhile, she pursued fiber arts, including knitting, crochet and felting.
When injuries curtailed her knitting, Michelle put down her needles and picked up her watercolor brushes.
Her painting style is traditional with a touch of whimsy. She enjoys painting animals and recently started a pet portrait painting project she hopes will keep her busy and challenged. She wants her art to convey her love of animals and nature.
An editor for a technology publisher, she is a wife and mother and is owned by a very bossy cat.
