Leo Hwang’s writing has appeared in The Massachusetts Review, Gilmmer Train Stories, Rivendell, Can We Have Our Ball Back?, Fiction, Three Candles, Gulf Coast, The Vermont Literary Review, Meat for Tea, and The Dickinson Review. He was a recipient of the Rosselli/de Filippis Scholarship at the Napa Valley Writers’ Conference and three work-study scholarships at the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference.

Leo recieved his B.A. in English and Fine Arts from the University of the South, an M.F.A. in Fiction Writing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and is currently completing a Ph.D. in Economic Geography from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where he is studying non-capitalist practices of artists and artisans of Franklin County, Massachusetts through the Rethinking the Creative Economy Project.

Leo has taught at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; Mount Holyoke College; Greenfield Community College; Westfield State University; and Saint Andrew’s Sewanee.

Currently residing in Western Massachusetts, Leo is the Dean of Humanities at Greenfield Community College and can be seen performing in various local bands including The Warblers, Vimana, and The Original Cowards.
