Kerstin Glaess Art

Artist / Creative (Individual)

Kerstin Glaess is an oil painter and mixed media artist living in New England.

Kerstin was born at Whiteman AFB outside of Knob Knoster, Missouri. Growing up as a military child, Glaess moved every several years until her family settled along the beautiful Emerald Coast in Niceville, FL. Today, her lifestyle is similarly nomadic in nature, and her many homes influence her works.

Kerstin's life centered around creativity starting from a young age. Her mother taught her to draw, sew, and paint, while members of her family expressed themselves through other musical, performative, and fine art pursuits. Kerstin experimented with different mediums over the years including pottery, watercolor, prismacolor, acrylic, embroidery, and paper. She considers herself a multi-disciplinary artist, though since 2011 has focused on oil painting.

Kerstin's style is alla prima impressionistic with contemporary twists. The colors of her works are exaggerated, the strokes and paint highly textured, and some pieces greatly abstracted. A majority her paintings are created using only palette knifes (no brushes!); she almost exclusively uses Mothernature as her muse.

Kerstin paints custom commissions, sells original pieces, and works as a freelance artist and educator. She travels the United States showing her work in shows, galleries, solo exhibits, and art festivals.

Kerstin attended the University of Mississippi for her Bachelors, and received her MFA from Brooklyn College.
