I’m the author of War Boys: a Father and Son Memoir, a braided story about my Russian father’s adoption by Nazis during World War II and how his trauma carried into parenthood. I’m represented by Robert Guinsler at Sterling Lord Literistic, Inc. My father’s past and my journey to discover it were the subjects of the Belarusian television documentary “The Fate of Men.” I earned an MFA in creative nonfiction from George Mason University. My writing has appeared in WBUR’s Cognoscenti, Brevity, and Pangyrus, and is forthcoming on WORLD Channel’s Stories from the Stage. I’ve received residencies and grants from SAFTA, Prospect Street Writers’ House, and Write On, Door County, and a Contributor Award in Nonfiction for the 2022 Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference where I worked with Melissa Febos. I’m the recipient of the 2023 PEN America/Jean Stein Grant for Literary Oral History. I run my own law office dedicated to disability advocacy. I live on a lake in Massachusetts with my husband.
