Ian Prishwalko

Artist / Creative (Individual)

Ian "een," Prishwalko is an interdisciplinary artist with experience teaching all ages. Ian grew up in Killingworth, Connecticut and has been “making,” for as long as memory can allow. He received a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 2016 where he concentrated in printmaking. After graduating, Ian spent his time in Boston as an afterschool teacher, and eventually leading multi-age classes out of an art center in Cambridge, MA (among other endeavors). His classes spanned nearly everything from printmaking with Kindergarteners to mixed-media figure drawing with Adults. Ian moved to North Adams with his partner in October, 2020 based purely on instinct; desiring a change of pace.
In his own work Ian tackles many themes including (but not limited to) grief, spirituality, memory – loss and revival. He ultimately regards himself as an intuitive artist, often bringing elements of mysticism into his practice. Meditation, dream-journaling and forms of divination are often a part of in his process – he is generally a sucker for synchronicity. This is all most often explored through a combination of painting, printmaking, drawing and found photography.
