My production, "Toying with Science" was originally commissioned by the Boston Museum of Science in 1995. I have since toured the show through 43 of our United States, at thousands of schools and theaters. Using mime, circus skills, spoken word and original song, "Toying with Science" delves into physical science, simple machines, gravity and air resistance. With original songs such as "Fulcrum Man", students learn how the 6 different simple machines work, while exploring the principles of great inventors, including Galileo, Da Vinci, and the Wright Bros. Defying gravity by chin balancing ladders, I show how I learned using air resistant peacock feathers. Highly interactive, students discover this information in a lasting and personal manner. Being married to a founder of "The Responsive Classroom", I am most attentive to how children learn. The show appeals to both children and adults, and makes for a fun and enriching family concert show, as well as for a great, curriculum based school program.
