Riggs Theatre 37 is part of the Austen Riggs Center, a psychiatric hospital in Stockbridge, MA. Twice a year we mount large productions with patients and area actors. These generally run for 10 performances with a house seating capacity of 50-70 people. The theatre was founded by Willima Gibson in 1951. Riggs theatre is designed to give interested patients a professional experience of theatre - it is not psyhco-drama or considered to be part of a patient's treatment while at Riggs. Kevin Coleman (Director of Education at Shakespeare & Company) is the theatre director there for the past 13 years.
