Viewfinding Photography Workshop
Date/Time
Location
Clark Art Institute (225 South Street, Williamstown, MA 01267, Williamstown MA)
What can a photograph say about our viewpoints of the surrounding environment? How can a frame change the ways we look at the world around us, and our place in it?
Join artist Anna Rotty for a photography workshop focused on the act of slow-looking and layering photographs, presented in conjunction with Abelardo Morell: In the Company of Monet and Constable.
First, the group will look through viewfinders specially made with imagery by Claude Monet, John Constable, and Abelardo Morell. Then, considering Morell’s unique process of layering light and space, they will combine personal experiences and views of the Clark’s landscape with representations of the artworks in the exhibition.
Anna Rotty is an artist and educator based in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she currently teaches at the University of New Mexico. She will be an artist in residence fellow at Mass MoCA in December 2024.
Free. Advance registration required. Capacity is limited. Recommended for ages 12+. No prior knowledge of photography required. Participants should bring their own camera (cell phone cameras work great for this workshop). If you do not have a camera and would like to participate, please contact education@clarkart.edu.
