“Uneasy Domesticity: The Painted World of Nikki Maloof

Date/Time

Location

Amherst Woman's Club (35 Triangle Street, Amherst, MA 01002, Amherst MA)

Nikki Maloof’s paintings depict a world hidden within the mind. Imagined domestic interiors and animals become proxies for the human experience. Her subjects convey existential loneliness, but that loneliness is buoyed by humor, capricious paint handling, and the use of a saturated palette. Nikki has shown throughout the US and Europe, and is currently exhibiting her latest body of work at Perrotin Gallery in Paris. Nikki completed her BFA at Indiana University before obtaining her MFA in painting and printmaking from the Yale School of Art. She works and resides in South Hadley. This talk is free and open to the public, and part of the Amherst Woman’s Club Thursday Evening Series, which features remarkable and accomplished local women and their personal journey of challenges and achievements.
