Williams College brings the annual Transnational Asian Film Festival to Images Ciniema with free contemporary films.

By the Stream (Dir. Hong Sang-soo, 2024) – Hong Sang-soo’s 32nd feature film returns to a campus setting, revisiting themes and storytelling approaches he hasn’t explored in years. (Thursday, March 6 @ 7:30 PM, Images)

After a scandal breaks out among several students involved in the production of a skit, a lecturer at a South Korean women’s college brings in her uncle, a famous actor, to bring the work to fruition.

Wang Tiemei, a single mother, loses her job and moves, befriending neighbor Xiaoye who appears cheerful but is depressed. Their bond grows as Tiemei navigates relationships with her ex-husband causing trouble.

Song Jia, Elane Zhong and Zeng Mumei star in a film exploring motherhood, friendship and romance, as Tiemei and her daughter navigate trauma, relationships and the absurdity and dangers of misogyny. (Saturday, March 8 @ 7:00 PM, Images)
