“Something monstrous is festering within these walls.” Amherst Theater and Dance presents Chay Yew’s adaptation of Federico García Lorca’s classic play *The House of Bernarda Alba*. After the death of her husband, Bernarda sentences her five daughters to an 8-year mourning period. Under her repressive rule, the daughters struggle to find love and autonomy through the windows and walls.
Directed by Lydia Silver ‘25 for her senior project, the show features a cast of twelve students including Erika Andrade ‘25 and Jazmine Willis ‘25 in major roles for their senior projects, as well as Malena Carraro '28, Anna Copeland '28, Qihan (Angel) Fu '28, Hadley Hunt '27E, Joy Johnson '26, Stormie King '25, Katia Peel '27E, Lauren Rainey '28, AnLing Vera '25, and Fiona Yohannes '25.
