Tanglewood on Parade returns in the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s annual celebration with the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra performing Hindemith, John Williams and Ravel, with Thomas Adès, Stefan Asbury, JoAnn Falletta, Thomas Wilkins, and John Williams. TMC Fellows will perform chamber music throughout the afternoon, and Brass Fanfares fill the Shed at 7:30 p.m.
Program will include:
Hindemith — Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes by Carl Maria von Weber
John Williams — Just Down West Street on the Left
Ravel — La Valse
Tchaikovsky — 1812 Overture
In La Valse, Ravel’s brilliantly orchestrated score captures the glitter and the violence of a society that, even as he was composing, had passed away.
