Taizé

Date/Time

Location

Second Congregational Church (16 Court Square, Greenfield, MA 01301, Greenfield MA)

On New Year's Eve at Greenfield's Second Congregational Church candles will glow, song (chants) will be sung, prayerful silence will be shared. It is time for the Taizé celebration once again.

Taizé is an ecumenical center in France started after the Second World War to focus on prayer and actions for peace. Young people especially, from around the world have been drawn to the beauty of candlelight, singing, and work to help bring about positive connections among people.

In Greenfield, for the last 18 years, we have gathered at 7:00 pm on New Year's Eve at Second Congregational Church to honor the beauty and prayerful quiet of the Taizé experience. If you would like to practice singing the Taizé songs, we will start practicing at 6:30 pm. Joe Toritto will lead the singing; some members of the Eventide Choir will be present to enhance the music.

We are asked to use the side doors of the church, either in the alley or the ramp on the south side of the church. If you have questions about the Taizé service, text the church office at 413-774-4355. Please see attached poster for advertising.
