Swing Caravan in Concert! An Acoustic Evening of Jazz ~

Swing Caravan is a Western Massachusetts acoustic band, carrying you back in time with the brilliant Django Reinhardt's (Quintette of the Hot Club of France) repertoire of the 1930s-1950's, along with their own interpretations of Gypsy Jazz tunes, vocal jazz standards, and originals in the alt-jazz improv vein of, say, Bill Frisell and Cassandra Wilson.

Swing Caravan has performed at prestigious acoustic venues such as Cafe Lena, Club Passim, The Bluebird, The Linda, The Ironhorse, Jalopy Theater, The Guthrie Center, The Stone Church, and The Academy of Music. The band has played main stages at the the Green River Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Fest (where they also won the Emerging Artist Showcase), Brooklyn Djangology Festival, and other festivals throughout the Northeast.

Following up on fall 2022 shows at Hawks and Reed, Matthew Shippee is performing in Spring 2023 with long-time bassist collaborator Kirk Sanger. These unique duo shows expand on the band's history of sparsely arranged and atmospheric interpretations of 20th century vocal jazz and Gypsy jazz. Nuanced sound, sensitivity, and empathetic moment-to-moment renderings between the two musicians will abound.
