Shawn Farley
Date/Time
Location
Anchor House of Artists, the New England Visionary Artists Museum (518 Pleasant Street ground floor, Northampton, MA 01060, Northampton MA)
Fresh from her solo exhibition at the Springfield Art Museum, Farley presents a new collection of "shapeshifters", figurative painted wood sculptures that are constructed from discarded foundry molds, other appropriated materials, and paint. The resultant colorful objects, cubist-like, radiate personality and voice, demanding an opportunity at another life.
___
Since leaving the University Fine Arts Center as the director of marketing in 2020, Farley has achieved an enthusiastic audience and chalked up 15 impressive exhibitions. Out of her Florence Massachusetts studio, she pumps out a steady production of lively sculpture. She has developed her artistic vernacular by "finding" her way through a self-observant natural method. The figures have a presence as observers themselves. Her work is widely collected and very desirable.
Farley will be present at the public reception on Friday, November 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. See more and samples of her artwork at shawnfarley.art.
