Sergei Isupov: PAST & PRESENT

Sergei Isupov: PAST & PRESENT is a solo exhibition of new ceramic sculptures and mixed-media drawings. PAST & PRESENT features Isupov’s hallmarks: a push-pull dialog between surface and form, a conversation between two and three dimensions, and powerful use of color within carefully rendered scenes. Also present is his attention to internal, emotional lives, this time surrounding the war. Isupov's family, all established artists, currently reside in Kyiv, Ukraine. Isupov’s recent studio work took on an urgency to counter the overwhelming anxiety and concern for his family’s safety and the loss of their formerly peaceful lives.

Born in Stravapole, Russia (1963), Isupov was raised and educated in Kyiv, Ukraine and Tallinn, Estonia. International recognition came early in his career and followed him when he moved to the USA (1994). Isupov has been based in the Berkshires region of Massachusetts since 2006.
