A photography Exhibition of Rural Post Offices from 1965-2021 by Matt L. Barron - in the Neil Hammer Gallery - Opening Reception - Saturday April 8, 12 - 2. Matt L. Barron spent more than 40 years in electoral politics. He is one of the Democratic Party's most experienced rural strategists and opposition researchers with clients including Indivisible Action, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and has worked with Congressmen Steve Kagen (WI), Joe Kennedy II, Frank Pallone (NJ), Jack Reed (RI) and Tim Walz (MN). He was a former staffer for the late U.S. Rep. John Olver, three Massachusetts state legislators and the Bay State's Commissioner of Food & Agriculture. In 2007 he co-founded RuralVotes, a national non-profit issue advocacy organization. He served as a charter member of the Obama Agriculture & Rural Policy Committee during the 2007-2008 presidential campaign. Barron also served on the board of the Massachusetts Specialty Foods Association, the Massachusetts Democratic Party's Campaign Services Committee and was the Policy Committee chair of the Massachusetts Forest Alliance. Most recently he served as chair of the board of Public Overseers for the Extension Service at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. As a serious follower of hockey, baseball and football, Matt is a die-hard fan of the Boston Bruins, San Francisco Giants and New England patriots. He enjoys wildlife photography in addition to documenting interesting rural post offices.
