About the Event: Join us for a night of vulnerability, community and joy as we host our first Queer Story Slam. Local queer writers and storytellers will be telling their true, serious, and funny stories of hope and triumph, strength and pain. Sharing our queer stories during moments of turmoil is a radical form of survival. Think “The Moth” but if everyone were queer! This event is free and everyone is welcome. Join us for a night of honesty, vulnerability, community and joy as we host our very first Queer Story Slam: All the Feelings at Bombyx Center for Arts and Equity on Thursday, September 12th at 7 pm. We’re looking for your bold stories of hope and triumph, strength and pain, because sharing our queer voices during moments of turmoil is a radical form of survival. A limited number of writers will be invited to share their piece, and will receive support in crafting a compelling storytelling experience for the stage. New writers, professional authors and everyone in between is encouraged to participate. Our selection committee is comprised of a small group of local queer, trans and non-binary people who love writing, listening and being heard. We want to share this experience with you and can’t wait to hear your stories. Send your story our way by July 31st. Participants will be notified by August 12th.
