Friends of Notch, a recently formed community group, presents a community conversation on alternatives to logging in the Notch reservoir forest.
Glen Ayers, a Registered Sanitarian, former Certified Public Water Supply Operator and soilscientist with a focus on the ecology of drastically disturbed lands will speak on concerns and possibilities. Local abutters to the forest and the reservoir will share experiences and research.
The evening will include an hour for Q&A and screenings of short films on Rewilding a Forest, exploring the value of mature forests and fallen wood by artist and poet Maria “Vildhjärta” Westerbergm and Pro-Forestation with Berkshire local, Nobel laureate and Tufts University Professor Emeritus pro-forestry expert William Moomaw, who discusses the value and benefits of saving old-growth forests.
