We at Broadside Bookshop are proud to welcome back to the Valley local poet and novelist, Ocean Vuong, for the area's only reading from his new, New York Times best-selling, collection, "Time is a Mother." Vuong is the author of the critically acclaimed poetry collection, "Night Sky With Exit Wounds," winner of the T.S. Eliot Prize, and the best-selling novel, "On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous," which has been translated into thirty-six languages. A recipient of the 2019 MacArthur “Genius” Grant, Vuong lives in Northampton and serves as an Associate Professor in the MFA Program for Poets and Writers at UMass- Amherst. He will be joined in conversation by award-winning poet, Tiana Clark, who served this semester as the Grace Hazard Conkling Writer-in- Residence at Smith College. This event is free, open to the public, and will not be ticketed. Seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Doors will open at 6pm. Mask and proof of full vaccination will be required for this event. Note: due to COVID protocols, Ocean will not be signing at the event. Signed copies of "Time is a Mother" as well as Vuong's other two works will be for sale at the door.
