Alexander Velinzon, associate Concertmaster with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and concertmaster with Boston Pops Orchestra will lead an open violin workshop, inviting the audience to a see how young artists develop their skills.
Open Workshops pull back the curtain on the learning process, inviting the audience to a behind-the-scenes look at how young artists develop their skills under the guidance of acknowledged musicians. Listeners can choose from a variety of open workshops, where they will see distinguished artists coaching the exceptional Fellows of the Tanglewood Music Center (TMC).
Born and raised in Concord, Massachusetts, Sebring studied at Indiana University, the New England Conservatory of Music, the University of Washington, and the Tanglewood Music Center. From principal horn of the Rochester Philharmonic, he joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1981. He has performed as a soloist with the BSO and the Boston Pops in Boston, at Tanglewood, and on tour.
As a studio musician, his horn work is heard regularly in popular music, on PBS and in films. His arrangements of holiday and ceremonial music have been played by the Boston Pops in Symphony Hall and at Fenway Park, and he teaches at the New England Conservatory of Music and the Tanglewood Music Center.
