On the Home Front: Dioramas of Dashed Hopes

Date/Time

Location

Anchor House of Artists (518 Pleasant Street ground floor, Northampton, MA 01060, Northampton MA)

**On the Home Front** features a collection of ceramic sculpted dioramas based on actual personal testimony, court documents, and media coverage of violent domestic crimes against women. Each diorama is beautifully fashioned, but by its integration into the horrible thing it represents, one can miss the artistic skill the constructions hold. Paired with each dioramic scene is a mirror etched with a piece of actual testimony attached to the crime represented.

Art is meant to be transformative even when it articulates horrible things, especially when it articulates horrible things because when terror is not brought into the light it festers and grows more deadly. Murray and Grave's **OTHF** assures that it is impossible to use ignorance as an excuse for acknowledging the omnipresence of domestic violence.
