Montague Common Hall Open Mic - Kaynor Echoes

Date/Time

Location

Montague Common Hall (34 Main Street, Montague, MA 01351, Montague MA)

Montague Common Hall Open Mic series features pianist Becky Hollingsworth, Rebecca Weiss and Gianna Marzilli Ericson in *Echoes of David Kaynor*. This will take place on April 8, 2023 from 6:30-9:30PM and also includes a full evening of musicians and other performers in traditional Open Mic performances.

David Allen Kaynor, a long-time Montague resident and widely-traveled fiddler and dance caller who passed away in 2021, would have been 75 this April—the perfect excuse to turn the featured act of April’s Open Mic at the Montague Common Hall into something of a birthday party for David.  We won’t have cake, but we’ll have fiddle tunes, either composed by David or in some way a reflection of his presence in and continued influence on the musical life of Montague Center as well as way beyond its borders.

Fiddlers Rebecca Weiss and Gianna Marzilli Ericson, backed by piano player Becky Hollingsworth, will start by playing traditional-style tunes with double fiddle harmonies, à la David Allen Kaynor, and will end by inviting any other friends and musical associates of David to come up and join them for a shared musical experience for all, also à la David. The featured performance is a remembrance of David and his music.

The evening also will be filled by diverse music performed by Valley musicians as is the tradition of the Open Mic series. All types of performers are encouraged to participate in the Open Mic– musicians, poets, singers, dancers, storytellers.  Come hear great music and other performances in a comfortable setting. This Open Mic welcomes and appreciates both emerging musicians and seasoned performers**.** Performers should sign in before 6:15PM. Time slots will be determined at random. Come prepared to perform for 10-20 minutes, depending on turnout. Voluntary donations.
