chrysalis is the solo project of Indigo Ansin, blending indie folk and rock with a personal, heartfelt touch. Known for intricate acoustic guitar, rich vocal layers, and open tunings, chrysalis balances intimate reflection and expansive soundscapes. Their songwriting is deeply personal, capturing life’s moments—relationships, power dynamics, feeling out of place—like entries from a diary, translating emotions into songs that reflect how those experiences felt.

With influences ranging from Alanis Morissette, Joni Mitchell, and Brandi Carlile to Daniel Caesar, Indigo De Souza, and Faye Webster, Indigo’s music merges thoughtful lyrics with bold vocal performances and dynamic, playful arrangements. Their use of chromatic melodies and unexpected twists keeps their sound fresh and engaging, while still rooted in emotional depth.

Indigo’s career highlights include performing at Boston Calling 2023, being a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition 2024, and receiving nominations for New Artist of the Year and Singer/Songwriter of the Year at the Boston Music Awards. They’ve opened for artists such as Olive Klug, Katy Kirby, Henry Jamison, VÉRITÉ, and MALINDA, and have accumulated over 800,000 streams on their independently released music.

With a sophomore album on the horizon, Indigo is eager to share a new chapter of their sound, exploring fresh ideas while remaining true to the personal, emotive core that defines chrysalis.
