Ikebana Workshop Series
Date/Time
Location
Berkshire Botanical Garden (5 West Stockbridge Road, Stockbridge, MA 01262, Stockbridge MA)
Miri Matsufuji wil lead a four-part Ikebana workshop in traditional Japanese flower arrangement, beginning this morning. This series is meant for anyone interested in cultivating an Ikebana practice, and you don’t need to have any experience; beginners are welcome.
The Sogetsu school of ikebana, which informs this series, is more than 100 years old, and yet it is newer and more unfettered than any other school of ikebana. Ikebana can be created anytime, anywhere, by anyone in any part of the world, and with any kind of material, to experience the joy of self-expression through flower arranging.
Miri Matsufuji was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She has more than 10 years of formal education in Japanese flower arranging. She began taking ikebana classes in the school of Sogetsu at the age of 13, and she studied Sogetsu ikebana for 10 years in Japan under her teacher there. After relocating to the U.S., she continues to study under the Sogetsu teacher in New Yorkʼs Nippon Club.
