SCDT is pleased to welcome the TENTH season of HUT—the interdisciplinary performance series presented by SCDT and co-curated by dancer Jennifer Polins, writer Jay Keery Weingarten, and sound artist Jake Meginsky. HUT showcases three artists in three short sets in an evening of music, words, and movement.

ARTIST BIOS

JULES SKLOOT ​ is a dancer, choreographer, and educator raised in Wisconsin and now working and living in Cummington, MA/Nipmuc, Pocumtuc, and Abenaki homeland. Jules has performed and collaborated with Circus Amok, Tatyana Tenenbaum, devynn emory, Hadar Ahuvia, Emily Popp, and The Ballez. Jules has also performed with Emily Johnson/Catalyst, 600 Highwaymen, Kim Brandt, navild Acosta, Sara Rudner, Peggy Gould, Margot Bassett Silver, and Laurie Berg and Bessie McDonough-Thayer. Jules’ own performance works are embodied research into dreamspaces, human relationships, and projection and have been presented in NY at Dixon Place, BAX, the University Settlement, BkSD, through AUNTS chain curations. Jules teaches dance classes and workshops to people of all ages, health classes to 4th and 5th graders, and is committed to joy and collective liberation in all these endeavors.

JULIE BODAIN is a guitarist and songwriter emerging from the caves of classical guitar. Julie grew up under the mentorship of guitarist-composer Jorge Morel, playing crossover jazz and South American folk music. Since the start of the pandemic she has taken solace in playing guitar on TikTok (@juiliul) and writing on an 8-string guitar.

​MARGOT DOUAIHY Margot Douaihy, PhD, is a cross-genre writer exploring authenticity, intimacy, and multimodal storytelling. She is the author of two chapbooks and three books, including the docupoetic project Bandit/Queen: The Runaway Story of Belle Starr (Clemson University Press, 2022). She teaches Creative Writing at Franklin Pierce University, edits the Journal of Creative Writing Studies, and serves as a LGBTQX Gold Award advisor for the Girl Scouts of America. Douaihy’s fiction, poetry, essays, and multimedia works have been published by Adirondack Review, APIARY, Atticus Review, Colorado Review, Diode, Exposition Review, Indianapolis Review, The Florida Review, North American Review, PBS NewsHour, The Madison Review, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Portland Review, and South Carolina Review.
