History in the Making

*History in the Making*, an exhibit of some of Chris Pellerin’s hooked rugs and wall hangings from 2010-2021, will be hanging in the lobby of Greenfield Savings Bank at 6 University Dr. in Amherst in April and May. Chris learned to hook rugs in 2008 using a traditional method thought to have originated in the Canadian Maritime Provinces, where Chris’ French Acadian ancestors were from. The title of the exhibit is a nod to the history of the craft of rug hooking, and the fact that these rugs are durable enough to become future family heirlooms. Each is made with great attention to detail and with proper care should last generations. The rugs range in style from floral to landscape, abstract to realistic, Art Nouveau era-inspired to Chris’ original designs.
