Anchor House of Artists (518 Pleasant Street ground floor, Northampton, MA 01060, Northampton MA)
Knapp is a seventy-one-year-old artist who, in 2012, died from a cardiac arrest on the operating table and was revived. However, subsequently, he developed ulcerative colitis that required hospitalization and medication. The trauma of his cardiac incident and gastrointestinal disease led to crippling depression. He sought therapy and found solace enough to launch into art as a path to healing. In this, he found redemption and celebration allowing him to set upon creating a fabulous, visionary suite including abstract paintings; woodblock prints; and conceptual table-like constructs.

At the suggestion of his friend and mentor, the famous realist Scott Prior, he approached the Anchor House of Artists for a debut of this art, which is now scheduled for March 2022. The public reception for the artist is on Northampton’s Arts Night Out, Friday evening, March 11 from six o’clock to eight o’clock.
Knapp is the original owner of the well-respected Danco Modern furniture company in West Hatfield, Massachusetts. He retired in 2018 following his medical difficulties. This allowed his full attention to the creation of his new art. Since 2020, he has been featured in eighteen competitions juried by major museum professionals including Paulina Pobacha, MOMA; Sean O’Hanlan, Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC; Harry Cooper, National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.; and others. He currently resides with his wife in Sunderland where he has his studio.
