Pianist Jacqueline Schwab, heard on Ken Burns’ Civil War and many of his other documentaries, will perform her multifaith/multicultural holiday program Down Came an Angel, at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst, MA, as part of their Second Annual Concert Series. Jacqueline’s program features evocative traditional Appalachian carols, South Carolina sea island spirituals and well-known, vintage New England holiday standards, along with Hanukkah songs, a Mexican carol, and other music. It will offer a moment for reflection, joy and peace in our troubled times—a quiet oasis during the busy holiday season. Jacqueline will share stories about how traditional tunes can speak to us today, whatever our beliefs. Jacqueline will be joined by local Folksinger/Storyteller Tim Van Egmond, who will share from a garland of heartwarming songs and yarns of the season. This will be their second collaboration in Western Massachusetts. This concert is produced by Louise Dunphy, host of the radio show Celtic Crossings on WRSI.
