The festival takes place at multiple venues throughout the Pioneer Valley and brings together local and regional dancers, sound and video artists, and poets for three days of performances, classes, and workshops. SIDEWAYS DOOR II is supported in part by grants from the Northampton Arts Council and Greenfield Local Cultural Council, local agencies which are supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
**Individual classes are sliding scale $15 - $30, take both for $25 - $50.**
**10-11:30am - Class with Laila J. Franklin**
This contemporary movement class is interested in excess, fatigue, virtuosity, and care. Drawing from my background in Countertechnique and contact improvisation, we will explore ways to move in and out of the ground, to move with and through space, and to move amongst one another with deep bodily and spatial awareness. This class will include guided improvisation, learned exercises, and phrase work.
**12:30-2pm Class with LOCULUS**
LOCULUS will lead you through a series of prompts, scores, and investigations in this open level improvisation class. Our work together draws from contact improvisation, ensemble work, nosie, authentic movement, ecology, punk shows, and rhythmic puzzles. This class will move from structured dancing into an open group score during which we can experience the full potential of our dancing selves in conversation with eachother.
