Brilliant, hysterical performances and beautifully crafted songs.

Cheryl Wheeler is a natural storyteller who brings you into her world of love and loss, of beautiful small-town America and the life of a traveling performer. Her comedic chops have been described as “Groucho-in-a-housecoat” where she shreds the mores of greedy, trend-obsessed culture but aims many of the darts squarely at herself. As the late Scott Alarik wrote, “Wheeler emerges as a gifted and open-hearted songwriter approaching the sure summit of her craft. Her abiding faith in her audience’s ability to find their own life reflected in the sweet spaces of her songs reveals an artist comfortably wearing the austere genius that defines folk music’s best traditions.”

Kenny White opens the show and then accompanies Cheryl for her set. White began his career in the 1970s, touring with Jonathan Edwards and then with Livingston Taylor, with whom he opened Linda Ronstadt’s legendary, Living in the USA tour. He produced and arranged commercials for TV and radio, directing such artists as Gladys Knight, Mavis Staples, Ricky Skaggs, and Aaron Neville. He’s worked on many film soundtracks and appears on dozens of recordings of other musicians, including Marc Cohn's platinum debut.
