Bright Leaf Fall Lecture, featuring Scott Bane

Please join the University of Massachusetts Press for a book talk from Scott Bane, author of *A Union Like Ours: The Love Story of F. O. Matthiessen and Russell Cheney*, which is out now from UMass Press’s Bright Leaf imprint.

The book follows the private lives and public careers of Matthiessen, who was a Harvard professor, famed literary scholar, and activist, and Cheney, a well-regarded artist, over the expanse of decades. Situating the remarkable story of their relationship in the context of shifting social dynamics in the United States, Bane offers a window into the realities faced by same-sex couples in New England in the early twentieth century.
