**About the Artist**

I began my artist’s journey in the early 1980’s when I started painting slates for family members as gifts. My mother was a great influence on my work. She was very supportive and suggested that I take lessons with a professional artist. As I looked into it, I was pleasantly surprised that an artist and illustrator, Virginia Kuniholm, was willing to give me lessons. I began my studies with her doing oil paintings in 1985. She was a wonderful teacher I worked with her until 1995 when she retired as she lost her vision. After a lapse in painting, I restarted with Susan Tilton-Picora doing water colors in 2003-2004. It was a new experience and I fully enjoyed this new medium and it is now my primary medium. I began studying under Mary Ann Wordsworth with water colors in 2004 until the present. I also have attended Holbien Art Seminars in Burlington, Vt and

drawing classes at Holyoke Community College.

Living on a farm all of my life in Granby, Massachusetts has given me an opportunity to draw ideas from the scenery around me. It is an open canvas to fill and create from. It is my hope that when people look at my work, I would like for them to receive a feeling of peace and calm from the images I render. The joy of painting is to give others a sense of calm and tranquility and it gives me joy and fulfillment in my life. I also enjoy the challenge of many varied subjects and truly enjoy seeing the final outcome of my work.
