Birds and Watercolors

Birds are very lively, cute and delightful animals to watch, thanks to this, it is possible to conserve some ecological zones and communities of which they are part. This is a very nice practice that should continue to grow to better preserve endangered species.

With the watercolors I want to show the expression of beauty and color that they transmit with their charismatic attitudes, so that we keep in mind the importance of their role on earth. Change begins with ourselves, small actions such as recognition and interest, leads to the creation of awareness, with this awareness, action is set in action and when there is action, there is change.

Aves y Acuarelas

Artist Statement

Photo provided by Shelsy Rodriguez (Stephx)
I am Shelsy Stephany Rodriguez (Stephx). I am a visual artist focused on painting and a student of environmental sciences. I come from Colombia, a place full of color, traditions, diversity, and life. A place where anyone can enjoy its nature and culture. My artwork is based on the self-expression of each brushstroke about the beauty I perceive when I admire my ancestral past, my cultural present, and the future to which we are committed to preserve and care for with actions that help the ecological communities to which we are connected.

I make art because it is the way we need as human beings to feel in union with our soul, our heart, and our perspective on life. I hope to inspire others to transform the ecosystem and connect with the role that every living being has within the ecological community, with small but significant actions. Together we can face the problems we have now with pollution and deforestation that are caused by humanity and that result in the mass extinction of many species.

Artist Bio

Shelsy Rodriguez comes from Bogotá, Colombia. A country full of color, tradition, diversity and life. In search of bettering herself and building her identity, she came to the United States three years ago. At some points in her life, art became her refuge because it was a time when painting made her feel free and calm. Art has allowed her to see nuances, textures and colors that take her to a place where she feels comfortable being herself. She currently resides in the Berkshires, where she is growing as an environmental science student and as a visual artist in painting and photography.
