ART==WORK : May Group Show at Waterway Arts

ART==WORK brings together 27 artists working in media typically deemed “craft”. How do we assign value to our elaborate, time-consuming, thoughtful, handmade work? Each piece has been specifically created for this show, and is displayed alongside a log the artist has kept of time and materials. Every work is available at multiple prices: the artist’s asking price, as well as the cost of the work if the artist were compensated at different hourly rates. ART==WORK is an exploration of and conversation about labor, compensation, capitalism, and patriarchy in the creation and sale of our art. OPENING RECEPTION: May 2, 5-8pm. CLOSING RECEPTION: June 6, 5-8pm.
