As one of the largest music educators in the world, The Salvation Army and its music and arts programs teach people of all ages how to perform for the blessing of others. Whether it’s playing in a brass band, singing in a choir, participating in a praise band in a Sunday worship, or dancing and performing dramatizations, these programs provide participants with a lifetime of fulfillment through musical excellence with a spiritual purpose. Trained staff pursue this mission through education, performance, and resources efforts that benefit local music and arts programs, and through the administrative work and professional development of program leaders.
The Salvation Army of Greenfield first opened its doors on April 22, 1923. Over the non-profit organization’s first century, The Salvation Army occupied several locations in the community. Today, The Salvation Army of Greenfield’s sign hangs on Chapman Street where their facility offers breakfast and lunch programs, a day shelter with shower and laundry facilities, social services, rent/utility assistance, youth and music programs, a church, and more to anyone in need without discrimination.
