A Night Out for Ukraine
Date/Time
Location
Edwards Church (297 Main Street, Northampton, MA 010606, Northampton MA)
A collaborative effort by the local theater community and other charitable organizations, as well as a host of local volunteers , *A Night Out for Ukraine* celebrates Ukrainian culture and provides our local community an opportunity to express our solidarity and support of the Ukrainian people. This fundraising event features a roundtable discussion by local experts on the situation on the ground in Ukraine, more than one year after the Russian invasion. The evening will also feature readings of four short plays by Ukrainian playwrights. In between, we will join together for a community meal of Ukrainian food provided by Crepes Tea House and music from the region provided by Burikes.
The event is part of the Ukrainian Hope Initiative, a global project of play readings that have taken place around the United States and the world, sponsored by the Center for International Theatre Development in Baltimore.
As we gather together for this evening of education, entertainment, and insightful conversation, our main purpose is to raise money to help Ukraine and Ukrainians. Beneficiaries of all funds raised will include Ukraine TrustChain, Jewish Family Service of Western Mass Refugee Resettlement Program, and the Ukrainian Performing Arts Fund. The entirety of your $5 ticket will go towards these fundraising efforts, but we do hope that attendees will be inspired to give beyond the price of admission to support this very important cause.
This event is made possible by significant funding from M&T Bank, and in-kind contributions and collaboration from Play Incubation Collective, Serious Play Theatre Ensemble, Ethel, UMass, representatives from Smith College, Edwards Church, NOM, Miss Essie, MsSC, and many volunteers.
