Éilís Kennedy Sings in Western MA

Date/Time

Location

Irish Cultural Center of Western New England (429 Morgan Road, West Springfield MA)

Acclaimed Irish singer/songwriter Éilís Kennedy will bring her lyrical performances to the Northeast United States this September, performing with guitarist Adam Hendey.

Kennedy, steeped in the culture and rich heritage of West Kerry, is fluent in Irish Gaelic; her long immersion in that tradition is integral to her performance, and her skill with lyrics and music are demonstrated in both stunning original songs and mesmerizing adaptations of the old tradition. A consummate story teller, Kennedy has toured the world, performing in many acclaimed venues including Carnegie Hall and is a sought-after teacher of Irish Traditional song. Her most recent album So Ends This Day is a themed collection of maritime songs, many based on the New England tradition. It was named Irish Album of the Year by Celtic Starfish Radio; was one of Hot Press Magazine’s Folk Albums of the Year; won Female Vocalist of the Year by American Listener Supported Radio; won in the Female Vocalist Category of IAMA; and was a nominee for RTE Folk Awards' Best Album.
